After you have purchased the Foodsaver machine always be sure about to watch the video that comes with your Foodsaver, it’s really amazing to know all you can do with this wonderful machine. You can do so much with your Foodsaver around. The Foodsaver takes a fair amount of space when it is being used for vacuum sealing, but the flip-up design saves you counter space. The canisters are worth having to vacuum store brown sugar and dry cereals, it may help you to keep the fruits and vegetables fresh, it helps you to store the left-overs, and the list is endless. It is always advisable to cool hot foods before vacuum sealing. You should always make sure that there is not too much moisture in the bag, if moisture is there in the bag then you should follow the instructions regarding paper towel use and always keep the sealing area clean and dry.
Always remember that the bags are washable and resealable. But for safety reasons you should not reuse the bags that were used to vacuum pack raw meats and fish. Foodsaver bags and rolls are readily available from all the leading stores in the market or from the Manufacturer, or from various online retailers. You should always compare the prices to get the most for your money. It is always better to make custom-sized bags from the roll; it allows you to save a lot on consumables. You can prepare fresh fruit ahead for evening hosting or after school snacks and vacuum seal it in a canister to keep it fresh. Vacuum sealing jars of food with the FoodSaver does not provide the same preserving function as canning. It does increase shelf life of the eatable, but foods that are perishable still need to be pantry-stored, refrigerated or frozen as usual.
The Quick Marinator attachment can save you lot of money and you can marinate tougher more economical cuts of meat for a flavorful tender meal. The Foodsaver marinates much faster than traditional marinating because the flavors and seasonings are absorbed right into the meat in just a few minutes und the vacuum. FoodSaver Canisters and the Quick Marinator are made of durable plastics and can be used for regular food storage. You can seal and keep flavor in specialty coffees in the canisters.
You can vacuum seal and store the first aid medicine and candle and matchboxes for any emergency. Beside that you can vacuum seal the silverwares and bronze wares to prevent them from the process of oxidation. There are many ideas for you for the use of the Foodsaver.

I owned the original food saver. I got almost 4 years out of it til it just finally wore out. I bought the V2220 model to replace it. I got less then a year out of it!!! I washed the gaskets as advised but the sealer just would not seal.
I love the canisters as they keep foods dry and bug resistant. As far as using it to seal wild game it was great the first 1/2 of the year. I feel as if we wasted our money on this model so now we are going back to the old ways of keeping our meats frozen.
What a shame because the original was wonderful.
I love gadgets…the best thing I’ve ever purchased was a vacuum sealer machine. Believe me, you don’t realize how many uses there are for that darn thing!! Plus at The Vak Shack the lady is offering 15% off entire orders of the bags and other vacuum sealer stuff. The promo she sent was: THEVAKSHACK and it worked for me…just thought I’d share
